Uzbekistan will export to France textile products worth $1 million, as well as the first batch of dried fruits, the Foreign Trade Ministry of Uzbekistan stated.

The corresponding agreements were reached following opening ceremony of the first trading house of Uzbekistan in the Paris, France.

The main task of UzFranceTrade trading house is to promote export of products from Uzbekistan to France and other European countries. With this purpose, a constantly operating showroom will be created to showcase a wide range of domestic products.

A meeting of the delegation of Uzbekistan with representatives of business circles of France was held, where promotion of Uzbek agricultural and textile products was discussed. The parties agreed to actively develop cooperation by supporting entrepreneurs at the state level.

“Today non-raw export of the republic has quite insignificant volume. The main reason is complexity of supplying domestic products to such a demanding market as France. Our task is to make it as easy as possible by bringing our standards in line with European requirements. Thus, we will be able to realize the trade potential and meet the demand for fruit, vegetable and textile products from our country,” Foreign Trade Minister of Uzbekistan Jamshid Khojayev said.

The French Embassy in Tashkent earlier stated that the French Development Agency (AFD) will invest about 450 million euros to implement several projects in Uzbekistan within the next four years.

It was later reported that the National Bank of Uzbekistan held talks with the French NATIXIS corporate and investment bank during the seventh meeting of the Intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation between Uzbekistan and France.

The sides discussed ways of financing small business in Uzbekistan.
