Sterling K Brown had an incredible night at the 2018 Screen Actors Guild Awards, taking home the gong for outstanding actor in outstanding performance by a male actor in drama series.

His win was pretty special, as he is the first African American male actor to get the award.

Sterling walked away with the prize for his role as Randall Pearson in family drama This Is Us.

Taking to the stage, he said: ‘What a blessing it is to do what you love for a living. What an honour it is to be recognised by your peers for a job well done.’

Adding that he was inspired by all the actors in the room, he said: ‘People call us weird and strange, the truth of the matter is everybody is weird and strange but we just embrace ourselves for who we are.

‘I love actors so much I decided to marry one. To my glorious cast of This Is Us, you guys feed me day in, day out. To my white family, which thankfully is nothing like the family from Get Out, I love you.’

However his moment in the spotlight was brought to a close when the band struck up and began to play him off, but he had one last thing to say.

Sterling added: ‘To all those people out there still hustling, trying to make it, the fame won’t sustain you, the money won’t sustain you. The love…keep that love alive. It’ll keep you going.’

Other big winners on the night were Gary Oldman, Nicole Kidman, Sam Rockwell and Frances McDormand.
