Democratic gubernatorial candidate Mahlon Mitchell isn't paying attention to recent polling that shows him trailing Wisconsin State Superintendent Tony Evers by more than 20 points.

Sunday Mitchell said, “I don’t feel like I’m chasing anybody.”

Mitchell rallied supporters on the north side of Milwaukee Sunday afternoon, and was joined by Representative Gwen Moore (D-WI).

Mitchell said he expects voter turnout to be higher in Tuesday's statewide primary, and said his candidacy will be part of the reason.

Mitchell said, “There are people in our state that feel like they've been left behind and haven't had their voices heard. I'm speaking about the entire state, but we do have a plan to get 50,000 more African-Americans out to vote, and that’s why we have an office here on MLK and Vine on the north side.”

Sunday, both Evers and State Senator Kathleen Vinehout appeared at an event in Tomahawk, Wisconsin.

Vinehout said, "I don't need a crash course on what the governor [Scott Walker] has done in the last few years, the last eight years. I've been there, I've read the audits, I serve on the audit committee, I've written four alternatives to every one of Governor Walker's budgets."

Evers said of his campaign, "It's been a good learning experience but it also is going to make me a better governor going forward to make sure that all of Wisconsin is represented by the governor, not just certain part of the state."
