EAST TEXAS (KLTV) - A First Alert Weather Day is in effect for Saturday, specifically late afternoon through Saturday night.

No major changes have occurred in our thinking for Saturday's potential for a few isolated thunderstorms across portions of East Texas. A Pacific cold front is expected to move through the area Saturday evening/night from west to east. There is very little cold air behind this front and that is the main reason why the storms are not expected to be too strong. At this time, we are not looking for violent thunderstorms to occur in our area, but a few isolated storms may still occur during this time period. Rainfall should average from 1.00" to nearly 2.00" in a few spots with an isolated area getting a bit more and a few areas getting a bit less.

The Storm Prediction Center has placed all of East Texas under a Marginal Risk for thunderstorms on Saturday. This is the lowest risk for severe storms on the SPC Risk guide. This means only a 5% chance for significant severe storms within 25 miles of any point in East Texas. We will continue to monitor this for you closely as we near the weekend. The greatest risk will be some gusty winds in the stronger storms that do form or occur in East Texas. We have taken the Flash Flood risk back down to LOW as rainfall totals have come down a bit from yesterdays model runs. Rainfall should average from 1.00" to nearly 2.00" in a few spots with an isolated area getting a bit more and a few areas getting a bit less.

Please stay tuned for any further weather updates on Saturday storm potential.
