Photo of the suspect vehicleA hit-and-run driver struck and killed a 42-year-old man on a Lakewood street and then drove away late Wednesday night, Lakewood police say.
Jason Barela was pronounced dead at the scene of the 10 p.m. crash, Lakewood police spokesman Ty Countryman said.
Barela was in the middle of West 13th Avenue just east of Otis Street when someone driving east in a small white vehicle struck and killed him, Countryman said.
The driver stopped the vehicle momentarily and then did a turned around and went west on 13th Avenue. Surveillance cameras captured images of him turning south onto Pierce Street.
The car is described as a 2-door vehicle with a sunroof.
